Process & Application

We seek visionary developers ready to build thriving communities.

Our selective application process is designed to identify community-oriented real estate leaders who are poised to maximize our unique ecosystem of capital, coaching, and peer support. This ensures each cohort is composed of professionals equipped to drive transformative change and create a lasting impact.

The Community Developers Roundtable (CDR) is a powerful ecosystem designed to empower established nonprofit and for-profit real estate leaders. We are built on a unique model: led by developers, for developers, that fosters collaboration through shared expertise and mutual accountability. Together, we deploy collective strategies and resources to create attainable housing and build vibrant commercial assets in the communities we serve.

Our inaugural cohort successfully ran from October 2022 to June 2023, followed by the completion of cohort 2 in 2024.

Applications are under review for the Fort Worth program!

Eligibility Criteria

Admission to the Roundtable is highly competitive. Participants are selected through a rigorous three-step screening process based on their qualifications and real estate experience.

Application Process

Our application process is a search for the next cohort of leaders dedicated to building thriving communities. We’ve designed a three-part journey to understand your vision and capabilities: we review your track record of impactful development, assess your capacity for growth, and engage in a collaborative panel interview. This selective process ensures we bring together a dynamic group of developers ready to leverage the full power of CDR’s ecosystem to achieve transformative community impact.

Application

Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements to move forward in the CDR selection process. This step focuses on demonstrating your development experience and commitment to community-focused projects that promote economic mobility and equitable access.

Eligibility Criteria

  • At least 2 years of real estate development experience.
  • One completed project or an active project with approved plans and secured financing.
  • Two professional references, including one from a previous lender or financial partner (contact information only).
  • At least one project that meets CDR's targeted types.

Targeted Project Types:

  • Single-family housing attainable for buyers earning up to 120% of Area Median Income (AMI).
  • Multifamily housing attainable for renters earning up to 80% of AMI.
  • Commercial real estate in underserved communities or distressed areas.

Next Steps

If you pass the initial screening, you will have one week to provide financial and organizational capacity documents. These will be reviewed confidentially by our partner financial lenders to confirm readiness for financing, identify growth opportunities, and connect you to additional resources.

Financial & Organizational Assessment

In this stage, applicants submit documentation to demonstrate the strength, stability, and capacity of their organization. This helps us assess readiness for financing and identify opportunities for tailored support.

Required Documents

  • Recent financial statements (profit and loss, balance sheet).
  • Organizational chart showing key team members and roles.
  • Any relevant reports that demonstrate capacity to deliver proposed projects.

What to Expect

Our partner financial lenders will review all materials confidentially. Their assessment will focus on your organization’s ability to execute and sustain community development projects while also identifying opportunities for technical assistance or capacity-building.

Candidate Interviews

Applicants who pass the financial and organizational review will be invited to meet with a selection panel. This is your opportunity to share your vision, highlight past successes, and demonstrate your readiness to participate in the CDR program.

During the interview, we will discuss:

  • Your development experience and project portfolio.
  • The community impact and alignment of your work with CDR’s mission.
  • Your organizational capacity, funding strategies, and long-term vision.

Outcome

Following the interview, selected candidates will receive an official invitation to join the upcoming CDR cohort.
